Free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for Kia Vehicles
Recently Kia announced that it would be integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into many of its future vehicles, but what about drivers who recently purchased vehicles before this announcement? Don’t worry, Kia hasn’t forgotten about them. Kia Motors American will soon be offering free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software updates for many Kia vehicles.
Which Kia vehicles have Apple CarPlay?
Kia Motors America has announced that free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software updates will be available for eligible vehicles when equipped with a compatible navigation system or UVO3. According to a press release from Kia, customers will be notified by the end of the month on how to update their vehicle with the latest software. All owners must register at myuvo.com to receive the email notification when the software update is available.
So what vehicles are eligible for this software update? Here is the list we have acquired:
- Forte (MY17)
- Optima (MY15-16)
- Optima Hybrid (MY15-16)
- Sedona (MY15-16)
- Soul (MY14-16)
- Soul EV (MY15-16)
- Sorento (MY16)

By having access to Apple CarPlay, drivers will have a more convenient way to use the iPhone on the go. When a user plugs in their Phone to the USB port, they are then able to make calls, access music, send an receive messages, get directions optimized for traffic conditions and more, all while staying focused on driving. Android users on the other hand will be able to access voice-guided Google Maps, hands-free calls and texts and voice recognition, Google Play Music, and more.
